Terms & Conditions

Effective Date: 22 October 2025

By booking or participating in a safari, tour, or related activity with Shakawe Safaris, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agreed to the following Terms and Conditions. Each participant must also complete and sign the official Indemnity Form prior to arrival.

1. Payment Options

• We accept credit cards (VISA & Mastercard); however, a 3% bank charge will be added to the total bill if a credit card is used.
• American Express is not accepted.
• We also accept cash after the hunt and EFT (Electronic Funds Transfer) payments.
• Payments can be made via PayPal upon request.

2. Rifle Permits

All rifle import permits are the responsibility of the hunter. Should you require assistance from Shakawe Safaris, please contact marelize@shakawe-game.com prior to your travel.

3. Deposits

• A deposit of 50% of the total daily rates is required to confirm your booking.
• The balance is payable after the hunt and before departure.
• A 30% deposit is required upfront for species that require special permits, including:
  • Roan antelope
  • Cape buffalo
  • Common reedbuck
  • Tsessebe
  • Carnivores and scavengers
  • Sable

4. Cancellation Policy

If a hunt is cancelled, the following cancellation fees will apply:

• More than 45 days prior to arrival – 90% of the deposit will be refunded.
• 30 to 45 days prior to arrival – 80% of the deposit will be refunded.
• 15 to 30 days prior to arrival – 50% of the deposit will be refunded.
• 0 to 15 days prior to arrival – no refund will be issued.

All cancellations must be made in writing. Refunds will be processed in the same currency and method as the original payment, less any applicable bank or transfer fees.

5. Wounded Animals

All animals wounded by the hunter are considered taken and will be charged in full before departure, whether recovered or not. Our professional hunters will make every reasonable effort to locate a wounded animal.

6. Damage, Loss & Liability

Shakawe Safaris, its owners, employees, agents, and subcontractors shall not be held responsible for any injury, loss, illness, damage, theft, accident, or delay before, during, or after the safari. All reasonable precautions are taken to ensure the safety and security of our guests.

Participation in any hunting, photographic, or outdoor activity is done entirely at the client’s own risk. Guests are encouraged to obtain comprehensive travel, medical, and evacuation insurance prior to travel.

7. Health & Safety

Guests must disclose any medical conditions, allergies, or limitations that may affect their participation. All firearms must be handled safely and in compliance with the instructions of the professional hunter or guide. Failure to adhere to safety rules may result in termination of the safari without refund.

8. Travel Documents & Compliance

It is the responsibility of each client to ensure they have valid passports, visas, health certificates, and firearm documentation. Shakawe Safaris cannot be held liable for delays or costs arising from non-compliance with entry or permit requirements.

9. Force Majeure

Shakawe Safaris shall not be liable for any failure or delay in performance resulting from circumstances beyond its reasonable control, including but not limited to natural disasters, strikes, government restrictions, epidemics, flight cancellations, or war. In such events, reasonable efforts will be made to reschedule or offer an alternative arrangement.

10. Photographic Rights

We reserve the right to use any photographs or videos taken during the safari for promotional or editorial purposes, unless you specifically request otherwise in writing prior to the safari.

11. Privacy & Data Protection

All personal data collected during bookings is processed in accordance with our Privacy Policy and the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA). Your information will not be shared with third parties except where necessary for your safari arrangements.

12. Jurisdiction & Governing Law

These Terms and Conditions shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Republic of South Africa. Any disputes arising hereunder shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent courts of South Africa.

13. Acceptance

By confirming your booking and/or submitting payment, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agreed to all the terms and conditions herein and that you voluntarily accept all associated risks.
